Here in Mississauga, most MoM families have the choice of giving birth at home, or in the hospital (we have privileges at Trillium Health Partners – Mississauga Hospital, and Credit Valley Hospital).
The most important thing to your midwives is that you have your baby in a place where you feel safe and secure. If you feel safe, you will be able to relax and focus on the work of labour, and that is the best possible scenario for any birth.
We know that for most people in our community, a hospital birth is the first choice. However, while you are in our care, we encourage you to learn a bit about what a home birth looks like. It is important to us that you are making an informed decision about all your choices in care, including where to have your baby!
